ALBANY ACADEMY FOR GIRLS

ALBANY ACADEMY FOR GIRLS, ALBANY NY

A $1.6 million expansion and improvement project for the Albany Academy for Girls. At the center of the project is a new 4, 500 sf Media Center. Three times the size of the spaces it replaces, the center contains library space, archives, 12 computer stations and a multi-purpose room to be used for distance learning.

The School’s Science Wing has been remodeled, with improvements to the biology, chemistry, physical science, and primary science laboratories and the addition of a fifth laboratory.

The Arts Wing has also been remodeled, including the addition of a new student lounge and a new multipurpose room. Network wiring is run to all classrooms in the school to allow for six computers per classroom and Internet Access.

A new physical education facility was also part of the expansion program.  The building included a new gym, running track, work out space as well as several handball courts.

Time constraints proved to be the challenge for this project. The entire project had to be constructed over the summer vacation so that the students could use the new classrooms and Media Center in the fall semester.
